Camera Acting I

Prerequisite – Introduction to Acting or approval of Admissions Dept.
Specialized techniques of acting for the camera form the basis of this workshop. Course work includes hitting marks, continuity, staying in frame, audition technique, practicing of concepts and techniques for camera set-ups and coverage.

Advanced Camera Acting

Scene Study Workshop

Through improvisation, script analysis and emotional preparation you work on character development, transitions, motivation and listening. Emphasis is placed on being honest and "Getting out of your head."

Introduction to Television Commercials
with Dell Johnson,
Sheila Anderson and Zack Hopkins
Designed to help you in all aspects of making television commercials. Begins with a discussion of technical terms, scoring copy, copy interpretation and introduction to camera techniques. Using a variety of commercial situations, not only will you be able to tape, but watch yourself under the guidance of an instructor and begin to use the rudimentary skills of acting for the camera.

Television Workshop
with Dell Johnson
Course teaches all the aspects of Television commercial work. Throughout each class students are videotaped as they rehearse a wide variety of commercial copy from slice of life, bite and smile, spokesperson to industrials. Course work will include cold reading and audition techniques for the camera. |

Imrovisation I:
Improvisation Techniques
with Merri Brewer
This course teaches a systematic approach to improvisation: be positive, trust your frst instinct and take bigger chances. This class builds your confidence and improves your audition success rate. The class is taught through theatre games and is the foundation for all other levels of improvisation training. Considereation for advancement will be based on the student having "mastered" the fundamental techniques. There are 8 three-hour sessions. Maximum: 16 students.

Imrovisation II:
Building Character

Continuing to increase the skill level established in the Improvisation I. These sessions are designed to teach how to create and build characters through improvisation and concentrates on scene work. There are 8 three-hour sessions. Maximum: 16 students.

Imrovisation III:
Writing and Character Development Lab
with Jim Kuenzer
The Lab is an intensive workout in improvisation, concentrating on writing and the creation of fully developed characters. By the end of this level, you will have written character monologues and scenes. The final session is performed before an invited audience of industry (agents and casting directors) and friends. There are 10 three-hour sessions. .

Voice-Over
with Linda O'Brian
Voice work is perhaps the most lucrative performance work available to actors. Learn the ropes of acting "on mic" with a professional engineer and an established voice actor/coach as guides. Course work includes training for a spokesperson, narrator and character roles. Learn about DFW market, the audition, the job, the follow-up, self promotion, the unions and agents. You will come away with a demo reel completed in a professional format. Maximum 10 people.
