Director of Development, elected to serve as 1st Vice President of the DFW local of SAG-AFTRA

On Wednesday, August 9th, KD faculty member and Director of Development Reis Myers McCormick was elected to serve as 1st Vice President of the DFW local of SAG-AFTRA. SAG-AFTRA brings together two American labor unions: Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Both were formed in the turmoil of the 1930s, with rich histories of fighting for and securing the strongest protections for media artists. Their members united to form the successor union in order to preserve those hard-won rights and to continue to extend and expand those protections into the 21st century and beyond…. read more

KD Conservatory Partners with Kim Dawson Agency for Model Search 20th Anniversary

For the 20th anniversary of its annual model search, the Kim Dawson Agency has partnered with KD Conservatory College of Film and Dramatic Arts and CW33. Each year, hundreds of prospective models enter to become finalists in the prominent model search. KD Welcomes Andy Anderson!

KD Conservatory recently welcomed renowned Writer, Producer and Director, Andy Anderson, to faculty! Andy is the writer and director of the independent feature hit, Positive I.D., (Universal Pictures) nominated for Best Picture at Sundance Film Festival. The film also made a number of  best lists and was one of only two American films to be chosen for the exclusive “New Directors/New Films” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He has written screenplays for Universal Pictures, Hyperion Pictures’ Honeymoon in Moscow, and Paramount Pictures’ Eddie Nine Lives for Eddie Murphy Productions. Fiddler on the Roof at Garland Summer Musicals

40th Anniversary Tribute to A Chorus Line including KD’s Michael Serrecchia

A special 40th anniversary tribute to A CHORUS LINE will took place on Thursday, April 16 in honor of the first performance of this legendary musical that premiered in The Public’s Newman Theater 40 years ago and went on to make musical theater history. Michael Serrecchia, KD Conservatory’s Musical Theatre Chair, was a part of this celebration as one of the original cast member of A CHORUS LINE. Real World Film, Real World Experience

Recently, current and former students signed on to work on location with David Pinkston, instructor of cinematography in the Film Program at KD Conservatory. The project was a simple scene to be shot and edited and used as part of David’s Master in Film thesis proposal at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Working on location is real world “flight time” as he calls it. “There is nothing like it. Students obtain real, hands-on experience learning the creative craft of motion picture production on location.” The production day started on a Sunday and was slated for four hours. Lisa London, CSA came to KD Studio/KD Conservatory, Dallas, TX  on December 6 & 7, 2014 for a workshop for Teens and Children on auditioning for film and television.
