Motion Picture Production Program

A message from the Program Director We are proud to offer this hands-on film production training program developed by Program Director Dennis Bishop, an experienced and respected Hollywood producer who has been an integral part of numerous successful and honored productions from the truly independent  (Horton Foote's Academy Award winning "The Trip to Bountiful")  to the hugely successful  (Universal Pictures' "The Fast and the Furious")

This program will teach you the basic skills and crafts of filmmaking. We’ll start you out on the first day with a new Mac laptop computer loaded with industry specific software like Final Cut Pro, Final Draft, and EP Scheduling and Budgeting.  When you finish the program, the laptop is yours.  (Links to the software and to Mac?)

You’ll learn screenwriting, directing, producing, cinematography, lighting, and post production and you’ll do it working in different capacities on short films throughout your four semesters.  And you’ll learn it from a faculty that works in the industry.

You’ll become familiar with the many different formats currently available for film and digital but your student work is all produced digitally. This allows you to delve deeper into the process of creating stories for screens big and small without the added expense and time limitations imposed by film.

We’ll teach  you how the industry works.  From independent films to the major studios and networks, we’ll teach you reality of the marketplace for dream projects as well as films made to fit a genre.

You’ll finish the program with a Final Project, something you can use to as a calling card to enter the world of Motion Pictures.

Graduates of the program receive an Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Motion Picture Production.
