Acting & Musical Theatre Workshops for Teens & Children

KD Studio offers a variety of classes for children and teenagers taught by working professionals from the entertainment industry. These intense, hands-on workshops emphasize not only a development of students' self-confidence and personal expression, but also give them the necessary foundation needed for camera and stage acting.

To help accommodate students’ busy schedules, these 8-week long workshops are offered on weekends only, year-round. From Creative Drama and Musical Theatre, to specialized techniques of Acting for Film and Television, to putting on a full stage show, students learn real skills needed in the entertainment industry.

Teens

Teen's Camera Acting
This course works on specialized techniques of acting for film and television. The course material covers the difference between close-ups, over-the-shoulder, medium and long shots, along with techniques for hitting marks, continuity, and staying in frame. /$425

Introduction to Television Commercials
Designed to help in all aspects of making television commercials. This course begins with a discussion of technical terms, scoring copy, basic guide lines for copy interpretation and introduction to camera technique. In each class students are videotaped as they rehearse a wide array of commercial copy. Course work includes cold reading and audition techniques. /$425

Introduction to Acting
This class focuses on developing the basics of acting through work with a partner. Students will be developing and perfecting scenes by applying various approaches and techniques. The work will include: reacting and listening skills, character development, improvisation, partner work and script analysis. /$425

Children

Professional Workshop For Children (Ages 7-11)
The purpose of this class is three-fold; (1) learning to read cold copy for auditions, (2) having the experience of talking and moving in front of camera, then viewing the playback and (3) acquainting children with the important aspects of the TV commercial business; how to audition, interpreting commercial copy, and showing their personalities in front of the camera. /$325

Television Commercial Workshop For Children (Ages 7-11)
Prerequisite – Professional Workshop For Children or approval of Admissions Dept.
Review of commercial techniques and introduction to film acting using improvisation as the major tool. Scenes with adult partners and introduction to the discipline of continuity. This workshop is structured so that it may be repeated by children who are committed to working in the industry. Throughout the children's courses and workshops, parents are encouraged to work with the student on scripts, and are invited to attend the final tape. /$325 

Kreative Dramatics For Kids (Ages 4-6)
This course introduces children with limited or no reading skills to basic commercial and camera techniques using creative dramatics, music and movement. Through constant reinforcement, they learn to respect the work of others, the responsibilities of working on a commercial set, and the importance of working as an ensemble. /$325

Professional Workshop For Preschoolers (Ages 4-6)
Prerequisite – Kreative Dramatics For Kids or approval of Admissions Dept.
Further exploration of creative processes as they apply to commercial, film and stage. This workshop is structured so it may be repeated by children who are working professionally, or plan to work professionally in the industry. There is a great deal of emphasis on assisting each child in the development of his own unique quality and talent. Throughout the children's courses and workshops, parents are encouraged to work with the student on scripts, and are invited to attend the last classes and view the final tape. /$325
