The Little MermaidIn a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice in Imagination Player’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., June 27-30, 2013, under the direction of Mark C. Guerra, music direction under Lynn Ambrose, and choreographed by Mary Jerome.

This one-hour musical is adapted from Disney’s 1989 film with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater; Music by Alan Menken; Book by Doug Wright; and based on the Hans Christian Andersen Story and the Disney Film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. It features the hit songs “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl,” and the Oscar-winning “Under the Sea.”

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. is based on one of the most celebrated animated films of all time — and winner of two Academy Awards® (Best Music, Original Score; Best Music, Original Song, “Under The Sea,” 1989). The Little Mermaid was originally planned as part of one of Walt Disney’s earliest feature films, a proposed package film featuring vignettes of Hans Christian Andersen tales. Development started soon after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the late 1930s, but was put on hold.

“While this production stays true to the movie, we’re also adding some pizzazz by developing the strengths of our amazing kids. The youth involved in the cast and crew have a large variety and high skill level of talents and this is a show that allows us to utilize all of those talents”, said Director Mark C. Guerra.

Production crew also includes Costume and Makeup Design by Ryan Matthieu Smith. The Little Mermaid
